To help understand what makes families special, we are going to read a story about Jamie and herfamily.
Imagine that you are Jamie, what would you have thought when you first heard the news? What would help change your mind?
What was special about Jamie’s family?
We Believe:
God chose Mary to be the Mother of his Son
God loved Mary very much and Mary always did what God wanted.

Jesus loves his mother and wants us to love her too!
Because Mary married a man named Joseph, Joseph would be Jesus' foster father.
Mary and Joseph lived in Nazareth which was far away from the city of Bethlehem where Jesus was born.
During this time, there was a new law passed and Mary and Joseph had to travel all the way from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
Since it was very far away, they had to travel by walking and by riding on a donkey.
Eventually Mary and Joseph arrived at Bethlehem and soon after Jesus was born!
We call the day of Jesus' Birth, Christmas!
We Believe:
Jesus lived in Nazareth with Mary and Joseph.
We call Jesus, Mary and Joseph the Holy Family.
This Holy Family obeyed God the Father and prayed to him.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph believed in the one, true God.
They loved God very much and they obeyed God’s Laws.
The Holy Family prayed Every morning and every night.
They even joined other Jewish families for prayer each week. Think of it like us going to mass!
Just like the Holy Family, we have to pray to God everyday.
When should we pray to God?
We can pray to God when we wake up.
We can pray to God when we go to bed.
We can pray to God when we go to mass.
We can also pray to God before we eat. When we pray before we eat we can say this prayer:
Bless us, O Lord and these your gifts which we are about to receive from your goodness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Ending Prayer: 1 Hail Mary/ 1 Glory Be
